Introduction
The Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome held a study week on Spiritual company specifically related to new church groups. During the study week 300 people representing 40 different ecclesial bodies gathered to share and to reflect upon the relationships that take place within spiritual accompaniment. Here we see the role of a spiritual father or mother or older, brother or sister, supports one in their faith journey and their identification with Christ. There was a growing need for good accompaniment in addition to the need for adequate training. This volume is a collection of the week’s proceedings. Cardinal Ferraro summarizes Pope Francis on the topic of spiritual accompaniment and offers a few guidelines for this practice within these new movements and communities.
